The direction that works properly
Going to PDF is conversion rather than reconstruction, so what you see is what the document actually said.
Fonts are embedded, so it looks right everywhere

A document that reflowed on the machine that made it can break differently, and the PDF freezes wherever it broke.

Headings and a table of contents usually survive as navigation.

Where this is the wrong tool. This uploads. The file is sent over an encrypted connection, converted on our servers and deleted after 24 hours. Tracked changes and comments are not carried across, so accept or remove them first if they should not be visible.

Questions
Will it look exactly like Word?
Very close. The one thing that moves is a font we do not have, which is substituted, and a substituted font can change where a line breaks. Standard Office fonts are installed.
Are my headings and links kept?
Yes. Headings become PDF bookmarks and hyperlinks stay clickable. This direction is what an office suite is built for, which is why it is the reliable one.
Is my file uploaded?
Yes, and it is deleted afterwards.
Does .doc work as well as .docx?
Yes, both open.
