Questions

Can this open a PDF if I do not know the password?

No. This is not a password cracker and it will not become one. It decrypts the file using the password you type, which is exactly what your PDF reader does when you open it. Without the password it cannot help, and no honest tool can.

Does my password get sent anywhere?

No. It stays in this page. The decryption happens in your browser, and there is no server here that could receive either the file or the password.

My PDF opens fine but will not let me print. Can you fix that?

Yes. That is a permissions flag rather than a password, and this clears it. Add the file, leave the password box empty, and take the copy that comes back.

Is removing a password from my own file legal?

Removing protection from a document you are entitled to read is ordinary. Doing it to somebody else's document is not, and this tool cannot do that anyway, because it needs the password.

Does the unlocked copy lose anything?

No. The pages, the text and the structure come through unchanged. Only the encryption and the restriction flags are gone.

Does this change my original file?

No. Nothing on your device is modified. A new copy is written and handed to you.

Does it work without a connection?

Opening the page needs one, and so does the first file you unlock, because that is when this site hands over the engine. The work itself uses no network.
