You do not need an account to use anything on this site. Every tool on the front page works signed out, and the 17 that run in your browser never see your file either way.

An account does one thing: it keeps the documents you choose to save, so they are still there on your next visit and on your other machine. Everything else is unchanged.

Why a link and not a password

A password here would be a liability with nothing to show for it. We would have to store it, and you would have to remember it, and neither of those proves anything a link to your inbox does not already prove. So there is no password to steal, to leak, or to reset at midnight.

The link works once and stops working after twenty minutes. If you ask for a second one, the first stops working immediately.

What we keep

• Your email address, because it is how you sign in.
• Which plan you are on.
• The documents you explicitly save, until you delete them.

Not your password, because there is not one. Not the sign-in link, which is stored only as a fingerprint that cannot be turned back into a working link. Files you run through a tool without saving are deleted 24 hours later whether you have an account or not.
