How it works

  1. Add the PDF, then move to the page you want.
  2. Choose text, a cover or an image, and click the page where it should go.
  3. Save. Your original file is left exactly as it was.

When the browser is not enough

scanmydocz for Android

Live edge detection through the camera, text recognition that makes the PDF searchable, a signature you can place, and batch capture. All of it on the phone.

In closed testing. There is no public Play link yet, so there is no button here yet.

scanmydocz Pro

Pro is the paid tier in the Android app. It cannot be bought on the web yet, because checkout is not connected, and we would rather say that than show you a price you cannot pay.

Questions

Can I change the words that are already in the PDF?

No, and no tool that runs in a browser genuinely can. A PDF does not store paragraphs; it stores letters at coordinates, often in a font that is only partly included in the file. Changing a sentence in place means rebuilding the page and reflowing everything after it. What this does is add on top and cover underneath, which is also what the big sites' editors do, and it covers most of what people actually need: a date on a form, a signature, an old address hidden.

If I cover something, is it really gone?

No, and this is the most important thing on this page. A cover is a white box drawn over the text. The text is still in the file and still comes out of a copy and paste or any text extractor. If something must genuinely be gone, choose to flatten every page to an image on export. That turns each page into a picture of itself and destroys what was underneath, along with the selectable text on every other page.

Do my files get uploaded?

No. The PDF is opened, drawn and rewritten in this page, in your browser. There is no upload step, and there is no server here that could receive one.

Does it change my original file?

No. Nothing on your device is modified. A new PDF is written and handed to you.

Can I sign with my finger or a photo of my signature?

Place an image, and choose a photo or a scan of your signature. A PNG with a transparent background sits best on the page. This is a picture of a signature, not a cryptographic one, which is what almost every form actually asks for.

What font does the added text use?

Helvetica, which every PDF reader has. It will not match the font already in your document, and matching it is not something this can do: the file often does not carry enough of the original font to reuse it.

Why is this marked beta?

Because the placing and sizing are deliberately simple, and text goes in at one size in one font. It does the jobs listed above properly, and it is not a page-layout program.
